In 2011, Jason Motte threw the pitch which resulted in the final out to secure the World Series victory for the St. Louis Cardinals. He followed that up with 42 saves–at the time, becoming just the fourth pitcher in franchise history to reach that mark. But after Tommy John surgery wiped out his 2013 season and inconsistent results as he recovered this past year, the future of Motte as a Cardinal remains unclear.
