Taxpayers Win As Commissioners Deny $24M Spending On Stadium

On Tuesday, September 23, 2014, Palm Beach County Commissioners voted down a proposal to spend $24 million of taxpayer money as part of a new stadium to help lure two Major League Baseball teams to Palm Beach County for spring training. The total cost of the stadium is expected to be $140 million and the remaining money would be raised with state taxpayer money and the teams themselves.
