Cardinals Draft Luke Weaver With First Pick; Cardinals Choose Jack Flaherty With Second Pick; Cardinals Find Ronnie Williams In Second Round; College Righty Andrew Morales Caps Cardinals' Day One

For the third consecutive year, the Cardinals used their top pick in the First-Year Player Draft to nab an advanced college player, this time Luke Weaver out of Florida State University.

The St. Louis Cardinals, armed with two of the first 34 selections in the 2014 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft, selected a pair of right-handed pitchers in the opening round. The Cardinals selected Luke Weaver out of Florida State University with the 27th pick overall and right-handed pitcher Jack Flaherty out of Harvard-Westlake High School in Studio City, Calif., with the 34th overall selection in tonight's First Round.

The St. Louis Cardinals had one Second Round pick and an additional Supplemental Round B pick as part of Major League Baseball's 2014 First Year Draft, wrapping up the night with a total of four selections. The team selected right-handed pitcher Ronnie Williams from American Senior High School in Hialeah, Fla., with the 68th overall pick and righthanded pitcher Andrew Morales out of the University of California Irvine at number 71.
