MLB Committee To Work On Bud Selig's Successor

Commissioner Bud Selig, who plans to retire in January, announced the formation of a succession committee Thursday as the quarterly Owners Meetings concluded at Major League Baseball headquarters.

Major League Baseball executives announced Thursday they were forming a committee in search of commissioner Bud Selig’s replacement and Cardinals principal owner Bill DeWitt, Jr. will serve as the committee’s chair.

In a move announced today, St. Louis Cardinals Chariman Bill DeWitt Jr. has been selected to chair a succession committee for MLB, whose work will include the selection process of the game’s next Commissioner.
