Carlos Martinez May Be Dialed Back; Joe Kelly Improving, But Still Not Close; Shelby Miller Time Is Slow; Lance Lynn (Four Strikeouts) Says He'd Do It Again

His defensive positioning mistake of Thursday aside, Cardinals reliever Carlos Martinez is having other issues. Lefthanded batters are hitting .318 against the hard-throwing 22-year-old, as opposed to just .217 by righthanders. Martinez is 0-3 after giving up three runs in the eighth inning Thursday in a 6-5 loss to San Francisco.

Righthander Joe Kelly, out since April 16. with a left hamstring strain suffered when he tried to beat out a bunt in Milwaukee, is playing catch in the afternoon and said he was hopeful of working off the mound in two weeks. That would put him at two months from the injury, but Kelly said it was not a time frame that surprised him.
