Cardinals Starting Lineup 5-5-14

St. Louis Official Twitter

Turner Field will play host tonight to a pair of clubs seeking some traction. The Cardinals have spent the first five weeks of the season trying to sustain some momentum on offense. The story has been much the same for the Braves, who enter Monday having lost six straight despite having the National League’s best pitching staff (2.72 ERA) to this point. Atlanta scored one run in each of its games against the Giants over the weekend and has averaged only 3.7 runs per game.

Peter Bourjos, hitless in his last 18 at-bats, will get his first start in center field since April 26 tonight when the Cardinals open a three-game series at Turner Field against the Atlanta Braves.

It’s no secret the Cardinals have struggled through the first month of the season. Monday, they begin a series with a team that knows a little bit about that.

After yesterday’s game-winning, 2-run single in the 9th inning, the St. Louis Cardinals will stay with Yadier Molina in the two-hole this evening as they open their series in Atlanta against the Braves.
