After starting each of the team’s first 16 games, Matt Adams is out of the lineup for Friday’s game against the Nationals. Manager Mike Matheny said he would find time to rest all of his players during this 20-games-in-20-days stretch, and with lefty Gio Gonzalez on the mound for Washington, this is probably as good a time as any to sit Adams.

For the first time since the eighth game of the season, Allen Craig is back in the clean up spot for the St. Louis Cardinals as they continue their series against the Washington Nationals tonight. Craig, six for his last 23 at-bats, has spent the last couple of games batting second and moves back to his familiar middle of the order spot as the Cardinals send a right-handed heavy lineup against southpaw Gio Gonzalez.
