For the better part of a century, the familiar refrain around Boston was maybe next year as it pertained to the Red Sox. With spring training now underway, this is the next year for 29 teams around baseball, but the Sox are not one of them. After winning their third World Series in ten years last season, most of any team in that time frame, the Sox have gone from perpetually cursed to being the model franchise in all of baseball. This season, Boston will look to become the first team to defend the World Series since the rival New York Yankees won three in a row from 1998-2000.
