Day 38: Cardinals (8-10) @ Astros (8-13)

Mark Ellis is in the Cardinals’ lineup for the first time since March 13, an indication that his left knee is no longer giving him issue. The knee inflammation cost Ellis several spring at-bats, leaving him now with a week to get ready for the regular-season opener.

Out the last several days due to tendinitis in his knee, St. Louis Cardinals infielder Mark Ellis is back in the starting lineup today as the team travels to take on the Houston Astros. Prospect Aledmys Diaz, who had two hits in his debut yesterday, will again start at shortstop.
