Top prospect Oscar Taveras is finally set to make his Grapefruit League debut and will do so in the split-squad game the Cardinals are playing on the road this afternoon. The Cardinals delayed Taveras’ start into spring games until they saw the outfielder run and slide without hesitating as he pushed off his surgically-repaired right ankle.

After several days of trying to push and talk his way into the lineup and several weeks of concern that he didn't trust his new right ankle, Cardinals prospect Oscar Taveras is in the lineup today.

The waiting is over. Cardinals fans will finally get to see their beloved top prospect in action this afternoon. Oscar Taveras, widely considered one of the best prospects in all of Major League Baseball, is starting in right field at Port St. Lucie for the first time this spring. The 21-year old’s been rehabbing an injured ankle for several months.
