Cardinals Minor League Spring Training 3-24-14: Silfredo Garcia Strikes Out Seven & Allows One Run Over Four Innings; Angel Castro Strikes Out One & Allows One Run Over Four Innings; Jacob Wilson Singles & Drives In One Run

Scheduled games against the Mets were cancelled due to rain and the Cardinals' minor league affiliated played intrasquad contests.  These games were cut short due to weather.


Springfield (Double-A) Beat Memphis (Triple-A) 3-1

Memphis:
Angel Castro (MiLB signing) started and pitched four innings.  He allowed six hits, one earned run, and struck one out.
Joey Butler (Claimed Off Waivers) started in left field.  1-for-2 with one run.

Springfield:
Joe Cuda (Palm Beach) started and pitched three innings.  He allowed six hits, two earned runs, and one walk.
Ryan Sherriff (Palm Beach) entered in the fourth and pitched one inning.  He allowed no hits or runs, and one walk.
Greg Miclat (Rule 5 Selection) started at third base.  1-for-2 with one double and one walk.
Jacob Wilson (Palm Beach) started at second base.  1-for-2 with one RBI.


Peoria (Single-A) Beat Palm Beach (A-Advanced) 2-0

Palm Beach:
Marco Gonzales (Palm Beach) started and pitched two innings.  He allowed two hits, one earned run, and struck one out.
Mike Mayers (Peoria) entered in the third and pitched two innings.  He allowed three hits, one earned run, and struck one out.
Bruce Caldwell (Peoria) started at second base.  1-for-2 with one double.

Peoria:
Silfredo Garcia (Peoria) started and pitched four innings.  He allowed two hits, one earned run, two walks, and struck seven out.
Corey Baker (Springfield) entered in the fifth and pitched one inning.  He allowed one hit, no runs, and struck one out.
Rowan Wick (Johnson City) started in right field.  2-for-2 with two runs.

Notes:
Jenifer Langosch reported that Jon Jay did not travel with the Cardinals and stayed behind to get some extra at-bats in with the minors squads.

Tuesday games come against the Marlins on their side of the complex beginning at 1PM.
