Held scoreless through seven innings, the Padres -- who scratched outfielder Seth Smith before the game due to illness -- finally got on the board in the eighth with a solo home run from newly acquired infielder Alex Castellanos. Utility man Alexi Amarista added a RBI single later in the four-frame to cut the Padres' deficit to a run.
