Early Sunday morning, and as another spectacular robin-egg blue sky awakened high over the Cardinals’ sprawling spring training complex, baseball took a day to rest. The only sounds echoing through the air at Roger Dean Stadium were the distant shhhuuushof a groundskeeper’s power washer blasting jet streams around the outfield pavilion and revving mowers turning craggy, overgrown grass into pristine green carpets.
