Mets Decline To Pick Up Johan Santana's Option
Excitement was palpable on the February morning nearly six years ago when Johan Santana first slipped a Mets jersey over his shoulders. One of Santana's agents, Peter Greenberg, said that day Santana was confident he would cash in the deal's seventh-year option, increasing its total value from $137.5 million to $157 million.
