Mike Matheny Clarifies Remarks About Starters
When Cardinals manager Mike Matheny explained Wednesday why Jake Westbrook pitched 4 2/3 innings of relief a day ahead of his scheduled start, the manager said that the team’s “next-day starters” are “prepared” to pitch a day early if needed.
