Right-hander Michael Blazek will be joining the Cardinals' bullpen on Wednesday, taking the roster spot of Carlos Martinez, who has been optioned to Triple-A Memphis.

Righthander Carlos Martinez, who has been on a yo-yo for the Cardinals much of the season, was sent back to Class AAA Memphis today and righthanded reliever Michael Blazek has been recalled from Memphis for the third time himself.

The Cardinals announced Wednesday that they have recalled right-handed pitcher Michael Blazek from Memphis and optioned right-handed pitcher Carlos Martinez to the triple-A club. Martinez was considered an option to start for the Redbirds in the series finale with the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park on Sunday.
