Cardinals manager Mike Matheny, in an effort to reduce the tedium involved in concentration on baseball fundamentals and to help sharpen his club’s competitive edge, established a bunting competition for the club’s pitchers, which was won today by minor leaguer Michael Blazek, who beat Trevor Rosenthal, Victor Marte and Fernando Salas in the finals.
