Albert Pujols Takes Ground Balls, May Return Tuesday

Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols was in high spirits on Monday as he continues to recover from a fractured left wrist faster than originally expected, with a possibility he could return to the lineup as early as Tuesday.
Albert Pujols could be back in the St. Louis Cardinals' lineup as early as Tuesday night, beating the initial timetable for his return from a broken left wrist by a month.
Injured Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols, recovering more quickly than expected from his fractured left wrist, took ground balls hit by coach Jose Oquendo for some 15 minutes this afternoon at Busch Stadium before the 5:15 p.m. start of the Cardinals' game with Cincinnati. He also revealed that he had been swinging a bat, including a session earlier today against a pitching machine throwing 89 mile an hour fastballs.
If all goes well during a checkup Tuesday morning, St. Louis Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols believes he could be ready to return to the lineup Tuesday night against the Cincinnati Reds.
