The school no longer exists and the building it once inhabited is now a husk, stripped and battered by Hurricane Katrina, but in its time S.J. Peters High in New Orleans was a launch pad for athletes. According to various histories, Peters was the prep home of major-leaguers Mel Parnell and Ray Campo; its football team once won a game 139-0; and the Peters-based Zatarain Papooses were an American Legion juggernaut and Depression Era champion.
