Boone Whiting (1-0) shut the door on the Chiefs to clinch a playoff berth in the 2011 Midwest League playoffs, winning 6-1 against the Peoria Chiefs Saturday night. Whiting went a season-high seven innings allowing one run on four hits while striking out six. The right-hander made only one mistake, allowing a home run to Chiefs center-fielder Matt Szczur (1-for-3, 1 RBI).
Boone Whiting and the Quad-Cities River Bandits earned a Midwest League playoff berth Saturday night.
They had little choice.
