Third baseman David Freese has been out since getting drilled on the hand by a pitch on May 1 in Atlanta. He returns to from the DL at a good time, with the Cardinals in dire need of an impact bat and something positive to spark the energy and inflate the morale. It's a lot to ask of Freese. He's a good player who has shown the ability to stay calm under pressure and crank out good at-bats in tough situations. He's played solidly at 3B. He is a legitimate reinforcement for a worn-down roster.
