Tony LaRussa Down But Not Out
The year was 1979. There was a frightening meltdown at the nuclear power plant at Three Mile Island. The Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan. The shah was forced out of power in Iran, and Iranian radicals invaded the U.S. embassy to take 53 Americans hostage. Egypt and Israel signed a peace accord brokered by President Jimmy Carter.
