General manager John Mozeliak confirmed on Saturday that the club will add right-hander Miguel Batista to its roster prior to Opening Day, reinforcing what has been evident and expected for most of the spring. Barring an unexpected additional development, the move would leave only one open spot in the St. Louis relief corps.
With the makeup of the Cardinals bullpen still uncertain just five days from Opening Day, one spot became reserved Saturday.
