Tony LaRussa Stands By His Criticism Of Union

As the hours wound down before the 11 a.m. (St. Louis time) deadline today for the cessation -- at least for now -- of negotiations on a multi-year contract for Cardinals first baseman Albert Pujols, manager Tony La Russa stood by his critical comments of the day before that the players' association surely must be applying some pressure on Pujols and his agent, Dan Lozano, to get the best possible, record-setting deal.
