Tom Spencer Named Astros' Class-A Lancaster Manager

Spencer, 55, takes the reins at Lancaster after most recently serving as the manager of Class A Palm Beach in the St. Louis organization in 2009. From 2003-08, Spencer worked as the Cardinals Minor League baserunning and outfield instructor. He has 10 years of Minor League managerial experience, which includes stops with the Triple-A clubs Nashville (1997), Calgary (1998), Charlotte (1999), Tucson (2000-01) and Memphis (2003). He has also spent five years coaching first and third base in the Major Leagues with Cleveland (1988-89), the Mets (1991) and the Astros (1992-93).
