Lance Berkman On The Bob Shelton Show 12-16-10
Cardinals OF/1B Lance Berkman talks to Bob about his thoughts on coming to St. Louis. Lance says he is very excited to be a part of the Cardinals organization. Lance says he feels good about playing in the outfield and thinks he will be in good enough shape to play good defense. Lance says he is probably about 90% right now health wise. Lance says that he would probably feel more comfortable in left field but doesn't have a problem with playing in right. Berkman says he definitely would feel more comfortable hitting down in the order rather than 2nd. Lance believes at this point Albert Pujols is the best in history and the "Babe Ruth" of this era. Tony La Russa made St. Louis an attractive option for Berkman. He says that if Tony didn't come back doesn't know if St. Louis would have been quite as attractive. Lance says it will be a little strange wearing the Cardinals uniform but is ready to get it going nonetheless. Lance also talks about a story in the minors where he dressed up in a mascot suit around the ballpark.
