The gist of the assignment for the thrills/spills article that appeared in Sunday's Post-Dispatch (click here) was to seek, isolate and illuminate what went wrong with the 2010 St. Louis Cardinals. It seemed redundant to rehash some of the moments or games that cost the Cardinals this season -- though, that, too, is coming during our season-in-review series -- so the goal was to find a theme that unified all of the Cardinals' failings.
