Cardinals reliever Jason Motte experienced discomfort in his right shoulder on Monday night and received an MRI on the area on Tuesday. Motte told reporters on Tuesday afternoon that he has some inflammation in the AC joint in his throwing shoulder, but that it's minor and he does not expect to miss any significant amount of time.
As the Cardinals deal with news that third baseman David Freese will have surgery on his right ankle that will end his season, the next step will be to sift through the possibilities at third base.
