The Astros have completed one of the biggest deals yet since the international signing period opened on July 2, signing 16-year-old Dominican outfielder Ariel Ovando.

DPL All Star Ariel Ogando has signed a contract with Houston Astros for a bonus ranging between $2.6-$2.8 million. In 8 Dominican Prospect League games, Ariel demonstrated his eye-popping raw power and his solid defense skills from the outfield.
