The Cardinals send a familiar look against San Diego Padres righthander Jon Garland tonight as they attempt to sustain the momentum fostered during a 5-2 homestand. Adam Wainwright (6-2, 2.49) brings a career 1-0 record and 1.86 ERA against the Padres; however, only one of his four career appearances has come in a start. Garland (5-2, 2.38) has emerged as a pillar for the Padres after lagging on last year’s free agent market. Garland is 0-3 with a 7.36 career ERA against the Cardinals.
