Cardinals Fall To Mets 2-1 In 20 Innings

Jaime Garcia and Johan Santana began Saturday afternoon as headliners on a national stage. They ended up as opening acts for 6 hours, 53 minutes of vaudeville offense, unheard-of match-ups and ultimately an almost unprecedented 2-1, 20-inning Cardinals loss to the New York Mets at Busch Stadium

I’m normally not a fan of low-scoring games, but this game was a classic! I didn’t think this game would ever end. I heard the announcers say that there was supposed to be a high school game taking place afterwards. I wonder if that game was actually played.

It was an amazing game. I took a couple naps and woke up both times expecting a final score text.

Bj rains of the globe-democrat said he left the stadium around 1am and the high scholl game was still going on.
