From San Jose to Atlanta to West Palm Beach, Fla., Cardinals manager Tony La Russa flew overnight Wednesday to the Cardinals’ spring training camp complex, arriving just after 11 a.m. in readiness for the opening of camp for pitchers and catchers on Thursday. La Russa, who has managed in the major leagues since 1979, seems as excited as ever.
