St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa said he was aware of the forthcoming book by Jay McGwire that, according to reports and a summary of the book, details his brother Mark’s introduction to steroid use and the kinds of steroids the brothers used throughout the early 1990s. The book, “Mark and Me: Mark McGwire and the Truth Behind Baseball’s Worst-Kept Secret,” is scheduled for release Monday.
