In a conversational and no-restrictions meeting with the media this afternoon outside the St. Louis Cardinals clubhouse, hitting coach Mark McGwire spoke about his admission of steroid use, spoke about his anxieties about becoming hitting coach and spoke without limits in an impromptu press conference far different in tone from his previous public appearance.
