Even if you disagree with agent Scott Boras' assertion that free agent left fielder Matt Holliday deserves a contract similar to first baseman Mark Teixeira's, there is a basis to Boras' economic argument.
Holliday, who turns 30 on Jan. 15, earned more than Teixeira as a player with four-plus years of major-league service, $9.5 million to $9 million, and as a player with five-plus years, $13.5 million to $12.5 million.
