Rick Ankiel plays the outfield for the St. Louis Cardinals. Ankiel is an unusual player. He started his career as a top pitching prospect, and for his first two seasons lived up to the billing. At seasonal age 21, however, he lost the plate and walked 25 batters in 24 innings (while striking out 27). He tried a comeback in 2004, and only walked one batter in ten innings but allowed a 5.40 ERA. After that season, he decided to become a hitter full time.
