John Smoltz believes the inflammation in his right shoulder has “calmed down” and the St. Louis Cardinals starter is planning to throw a side session Tuesday or Wednesday to prepare for his next start. He said Sunday morning there is no reason to think he’ll miss his next start — on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball against the Chicago Cubs a week from today.
