Ex-Cardinals Watch 9-14-09: Max Scherzer Denied #10; Fernando Tatis Hurting; Joe Girardi Tossed; Brett Wallace Scouting Report

Max Scherzer (Diamondbacks):
Scherzer allowed just three hits and walked two while striking out five through his six innings of work. A lack of first-pitch strikes, though, cost him a chance to pitch deeper into the game.

Fernando Tatis (Mets):
Fernando Tatis sprained his left index finger, the one he keeps outside the glove, reaching for Utley's hit, and was removed after batting in the second.

Joe Girardi (Yankees MGR):
In the fifth inning on Sunday, Foster ejected both Rodriguez and manager Joe Girardi, reigniting the relationship between the Yankees and an umpire whom Rodriguez twice called "unprofessional."

Randy Keisler (Southern Maryland):
The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the Atlantic League placed him on the inactive list.

Brett Wallace (Athletics):
In Project Prospect's recent Top 25 Position Player rankings, Brett Wallace sat just outside the top 25 coming in at no. 30. A career .305/.384/.475 hitter in 192 minor league games, Wallace has been a highly regarded prospect since he was drafted 13th overall in 2008. The reasoning for such a low ranking on our list is Wallace's projected power output. Read on for what he does well and what he can improve on.
