Russ Springer (Rays):
I just got off the phone with reliever Russ Springer, who is at the airport heading for Seattle because he has been claimed on waivers by the Rays. The A's will save $1 million with the move.

Dan Haren (Diamondbacks):
But Saturday's game, in which Haren gave up five runs in six innings during a 5-2 loss to Washington at Nationals Park, was validation that something is amiss.

Jeff Weaver (Dodgers):
There's also a chance that the starter could be a pitcher currently with the Dodgers. The most logical candidate in that scenario is Jeff Weaver, who's started five games this season, but Weaver was the long reliever Saturday if Clayton Kershaw suffered an early exit.

Jim Riggleman (Nationals MGR):
Mark Grace, an analyst for Fox Sports Arizona, called Jim Riggleman the best manager he ever had in the big leagues. Grace played first base for Riggleman from 1995 to 1999, when both were with the Cubs.

Jamie Moyer (Phillies):
Jamie Moyer said all the right things.

But the 46-year-old Phillies lefty, who will face the Marlins in Sunday's series finale at Citizens Bank Park, did not directly address whether he would be amenable to pitching in relief.

Scott Rolen (Reds):
Scott Rolen was scratched from the Reds' starting lineup Saturday because he was suffering from concussion-like symptoms. The third baseman was slated to bat fourth in his team's 4-2 defeat to the San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park, but he was replaced by Adam Rosales after taking part in batting practice.

Mark Mulder (Free Agent):
He is in the last stages of his rehab, working until Tuesday with former Mets and A’s pitching coach Rick Peterson. Mulder is already doing bullpens, so any team that signs him may be able to get him in a major league game soon.
