San Diego Padres Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn is in town watching his former team and his son, Tony, play in his duties as an analyst for the Padres’ television network. But, as the baseball coach at San Diego State University, Gwynn is waiting out the last 24 to 30 hours before he and everyone else knows if the Aztecs’ prize righthander, Stephen Strasburg, will be signed by the Washington Nationals, who selected Strasburg first in the June amateur draft.
