Staked to a 2-0 lead in the first inning tonight by a two-run homer from Matt Holliday’, St. Louis Cardinals righthander Chris Carpenter did something he rarely does. Not only did Carpenter relinquish up the lead in the bottom of the first but he did it by allowing two-out, back-to-back homers to the Pittsburgh Pirates’ Garrett Jones and Ryan Doumit.
