Ex-Cardinals Watch 7-26-09: Brett Wallace, Chris Duncan, & Shane Peterson All Make Debuts; Chad Paronto DFA'd; Scott Rolen & Jack Wilson Trade Rumors

Chad Paronto (Astros):
The Astros designated reliever Chad Paronto for assignment to make room for Chris Sampson to come off the disabled list following Houston's 10-3 loss to the New York Mets at Minute Maid Park on Saturday.

When Brett Wallace put on his red Futures Game jersey and stepped onto the Busch Stadium turf two weeks ago, he thought he might be catching a glimpse of his future.

Edgar Renteria (Giants):
Shortstop Edgar Renteria returned to the lineup after a three-game absence with a tender right elbow and went hitless in three at-bats.

Chris Duncan (Red Sox):
The PawSox scored in the first inning as newly acquired outfielder Chris Duncan knocked in a run with a base hit in his first Pawtucket at bat. After winning on Thursday, the PawSox had hoped to win consecutive ballgames for the first time since June 19-21 (at Durham).

Shane Peterson (Athletics):
Trailing, 4-2, entering the ninth, the 'Hounds again rallied against Evan Scribner, who has 17 saves on the year (third in the league). Matt Sulentic drove Scribner's first pitch into the gap in left-center, and would score on an RBI double by Shane Peterson. He then scored the tying run on the third 'Hounds double of the inning, this one off the bat of Matt Spencer.

Clayton Mortensen (Athletics):
Is slated to make his first start for Triple-A Sacramento on Monday.

Scott Rolen (Blue Jays):
The Reds and Blue Jays have had discussions within the past several days about a trade that would send Toronto third baseman Scott Rolen to Cincinnati, major league sources told FOXSports.com on Saturday.

Jack Wilson (Pirates):
The Red Sox appear to be checking out shortstops, including Jack Wilson and possibly even ex-Red Sox Orlando Cabrera, who's also being pursued by the Twins. Nick Green has been slumping after a tremendous start for Boston while Jed Lowrie is getting over an injury.
