Joel Pineiro has taken the concept of pitching to contact to an extreme this year and, for the most part, it's worked. He enter's Friday's outing 4-1 with a 3.24 ERA, and he's averaging nearly seven innings per start.

Laynce Nix has been too productive for the Reds to sit any longer.
Nix was the starting left fielder against the Brewers and right-handed pitcher Braden Looper on Thursday. In the platoon manager Dusty Baker has employed this season, Chris Dickerson would have normally played.
