Ex-Cardinals Watch 5-10-09: Sidney Ponson Bumped To Bullpen, David Eckstein Leaves Game, Jack Wilson Closer To Return

Jeff Suppan (Brewers):
Suppan (2-3), making his second straight Mother's Day start since his own mom succumbed to pancreatic cancer, was charged with four runs, three of them earned, on five hits in five innings. He lost for the first time since April 12, when he surrendered five runs in 3 2/3 innings against Chicago.

Anthony Reyes (Indians):
In this latest loss, it was right-hander Anthony Reyes putting the Tribe in an early hole, left fielder Ben Francisco contributing to Reyes' woes with a mistake in the field and the offense doing little to nothing to bail its starter out.

David Eckstein (Padres):
"The off-day comes at a good time," Padres manager Bud Black said, referring to a pitch second baseman David Eckstein took in the ribs, forcing him from the game, although he could have easily been talking in general terms about the Padres' play.

Jack Wilson (Pirates):
Shortstop Jack Wilson is expected to be activated from the disabled list prior to Tuesday's game. He last played on April 24 before a left middle finger sprain forced him to the sideline.

Xavier Nady (Yankees):
