Once again, the Cardinals find themselves waiting out a rain delay with first pitch against the Reds expected to be delayed about 90 minutes (to around 7:30 p.m. CST). Before a steady rain hit, Chris Carpenter threw in the outfield as a prelude to his session off a bullpen mound on Tuesday. If the session goes as hoped, he will return for another bullpen Friday. The club will then decide whether to send him on rehab, continue his bullpen work or return directly to the rotation.
