Even though he lived close to Roger Dean Stadium, there seemed something oddly symbolic Thursday about seeing Cardinals outfielder-infielder Joe Mather riding his bicycle home after Thursday's game while the Cardinals were preparing to board a plane today to fly to Memphis for the end of their exhibition schedule.

Thursday, Joe Mather was optioned to Triple-A Memphis. This leaves the Cardinals’ current roster at 25 players making it appear, barring some unforeseen circumstances, these are the guys manager Tony La Russa will go to battle with on April 6.
