Fort Worth Signs Charles Carter For 2009 Season

The Fort Worth Cats of the independent American Association signed (March 30) outfielder Charles Carter to a contract for the 2009 season.

Carter, 26, was a 27th round (830th overall) selection by the St Louis Cardinals in the 2005 amateur draft out of Texas A&M Corpus Christi. He spent two seasons in the Cardinals farm system playing fo Johnson City, State College, and Quad Cities before being released in July 2006.

In 2008, Carter played in 96 games batting .284 with nine doubles, a team-leading five triples, three home runs, 39 RBIs, 55 runs scored, 14 stolen bases, 49 walks, and struck out 55 times in 356 at-bats. Fort Worth finished with a 60-36 record.
