Check out the crowd of players watching Carpenter warmup. I've been to a bunch of spring games over the years, but I don't think I have ever seen a site like this.
Chris Carpneter made his first Grapefruit League appearance today, and on all fronts, it was successful. The most important thing today, was that he felt good. Physically he was happy, and he was also happy with his control and command. He threw 18 pitches over 2 innings, 13 for strikes. The only blemish was a hit batter. I stood behind the plate to watch the first 2 innings, and his breaking ball was really sharp. The contact wasn't hard, and the hitters were off balance.
