Jason Motte (Valley Central, 2000) had a rare bad week, allowing four runs in 12/3 innings over two appearances. The upside is he struck out his 100th batter, an unheard of number for a reliever. Memphis' season ends Sept. 1, so it would be a shock if Motte isn't promoted to the Cardinals for his major-league debut when rosters expand. Motte already is on the 40-man roster.
