In a sports first, representatives from the Big-4 pro sports unions all met today at the MLBPA headquarters in New York to exchange information and discuss issues facing player unions in the U.S. With all four unions seeing labor agreements ending at approximately the same time (MLB, NBA, NFL – 2011, NHLPA has the right to terminate its labor deal in 2009, and the NBA can extend till 2012), the meeting made sense.
